Turning Care Into Credit - How Service Becomes Recognition

Part II

Everyday across America, thousands of young people help care for parents or siblings who have served, and now live with visible or invisible wounds. Until now, their compassion has existed in silence, rarely recorded, rarely credited, rarely seen.

Caregiving
Caregiving

That changes with the Torch of Care Community Service Hours (TCCSH), a national pilot program launching at the Military Child World Expo 2026. This program turns caregiving into community service credit.

It ensures that a teen who helps their parent with mobility, medication, or emotional care receives the same civic recognition as peers who volunteer in schools or community centers.

Under The Promise We Carry initiative, TCCSH will partner with schools, youth organizations, and national service programs to officially log, verify, and certify these hours of care. For the first time, our nation will see caregiving not as a private struggle, but as a public act of leadership, measurable, meaningful, and transformative.

Care is service. Service is citizenship. Recognition is the promise we carry forward.
