The Volunteer & Student Ambassador Program
The Volunteer & Student Ambassador Program is the heart of how we welcome, guide, and honor every military-connected child and family who steps into the Military Child World Expo.
Ambassadors help create a culture of belonging, where every young person feels seen, recognized, and valued.

Adult Volunteer (Caregivers, Veterans, Alumni, Educators, Community Members)
Adult Volunteers assist with:

Hospitality & family welcome
-
Care Circle and Reflection Lounge support
-
Accessibility and sensory-friendly accommodations
-
Youth safety and pavilion traffic balance
-
Backstage, logistics & mobility support
Adults support, not overshadow.
Youth lead. Adults make the space safe.

Role Paths
Youth Ambassadors (Ages 12–24)
Youth Ambassadors assist with:

Pavilion welcome and guided orientation

Stage host & youth speaker support

Identity + creativity workshops

Summit leadership circles

Sneaker Dripping™ showcase assistance
-
Sharing their voice, story, presence, and leadership

What Ambassadors & Volunteers Receive

Service Hours (TCCSH or traditional community service validation)

Leadership training rooted in belonging, identity, and trauma-informed care

Recognition ribbon and ambassador identifier during the Expo

Certificate of Service signed by the Military Children’s Six Foundation

Networking with youth, alumni, and organizational partners nationwide
Training Overview
All Ambassadors and Volunteers complete:
1. Belonging & Identity Orientation
-
Understanding the cultural identity of the Military Child.
2. Trauma-Informed Community Care
-
How to support others without needing to "fix" or counsel.
3. Accessibility & Safety Protocols
-
Ensuring every space is welcoming.
4. Event Role Walkthrough
-
Clear expectations + simple communication structure.
Training may be:
-
Live on Zoom
-
In-person during setup day
-
Or through a guided digital module
Time Commitment
You may serve:

One signature event
-
One full Expo day | Half-Day | Shift Available
-
All three days (Full Experience Track)
Schedules are designed to avoid burnout and allow participation in summit activities.
